To begin create a new document in Photoshop. Next make sure you are working in RBG mode. Click on image, mode then click RGB. It’s very important that you are working in RBG mode, because you will not see any color if you are in greyscale. The next step is to create a new layer to we can start creating our battery. Next select the shape tool and choose the rectangle shape. Now click and drag to create the basic shape of your battery. The next step is to add some depth to the battery.
Click on Layer then Layer style on your top menu. Next click on gradient overlay and load the metal gradients. Click and apply the copper gradient. Then adjust the settings until you get something you are satisfied with. Next create a new layer to the make another part of the battery. Select the shape tool from the toolbar and choose the rectangle.
Next click and drag to create a small rectangle at the tip of the battery. Now click on layer then layer style and click on gradient overlay. Then click on a silver metal gradient and click OK. Make sure to place the basic shape of your batter as the top layer. Next create a new layer and place it at the top. Then set your foreground color to black. Now click and drag to create and cover most of the battery with black and leave a copper tip at the end. You can look at the image I uploaded with this lesson to see how it should look. Next click layer and then layer style and click on gradient overlay. Select a simply black and white gradient, then set the opacity to 49% and click OK. You have now completed your battery. It should be looking really good by now. Now let’s make the battery look a little better. Double click on your background and fill it with black. Next click on layer then layer style and click outer glow. Allow a white outer glow to every part of your battery. This makes your batter stand out and it will look more realistic. I hope you enjoyed this lesson and have a great day.
